Jakarta – Apple has just rolled out iOS 17 and iPadOS 17, the operating systems designed for iPhone and iPad. Like all Apple software updates, both are available for free.

iOS 17 will not support the iPhone 8, 8 Plus, or the iPhone X. They are all able to run 16 though, so they should get support through security updates for at least another year. iOS 17 will support several iPhone types, starting from iPhone XR and the latest iPhone 15.
While iPadOS 17 runs on iPad mini 5 the latest iPad 6 and the latest, iPad Air 3 and the latest, iPad Pro 12.9-inch second generation and later, all iPad Pro 11-inch models, and iPad Pro 10.5-inch.

The updated Apple software, version 21A329, can be downloaded on eligible iPhones and iPads by going to Settings > General > Software Update. It may take a few minutes for the update to be applied to all users due to high demand.

Moreover, iOS 17 expands on last year’s Lock Screen update with the addition of interactive widgets and StandBy, a new feature that turns the iPhone into a mini home hub while it’s charging.
Users can now view voicemail transcripts in real-time, and leave video messages on FaceTime. it’s now also works on Apple TV with tvOS 17.
With NameDrop, exchanging contacts will be even easier, just by touching two phones together. The Messages app has been overhauled with new security features and updates to how stickers work.
Autocorrect is better than ever, Spotlight search has been improved, and private browsing in Safari is more secure with Face ID lock and mood tracking features in the Health app.
Passwords can now be shared on iCloud Keychain and AirTags for family members, plus there are new features for AirPods Pro. Apple also added updates to Siri, Mail, Reminders, Notes, Home, and more.
“iOS 17 brings major updates to Phone, Messages, and FaceTime that give you new ways to express yourself when communicating. StandBy brings a new full-screen experience with at-a-glance information designed to be viewed remotely when you turn your iPhone upside down while charging,” the company wrote in a statement.
AirDrop will make it easier for you to share and connect with those around you and adds NameDrop for contact sharing.
Improvements to the keyboard will make entering text faster and easier than ever. iOS 17 also includes updates to Widgets, Safari, Music, AirPlay, and more.
